3. NeoEats
Brand identity
AcrossRCA team project
“How can we eliminate people’s fear and prejudice toward new foods for sustainable and healthy diets?”
NeoEats is a speculative food brand developed as part of AcrossRCA, an interdisciplinary, College-wide initiative that encourages students to respond to the complexities of evolving physical and digital worlds.
The project addresses public resistance to future foods by focusing on transparency, sensory design, and sustainability. By presenting alternative food systems through clear information, intuitive visuals, and engaging taste experiences, NeoEats seeks to shift perception and reduce fear around the unfamiliar.
According to projections by the United Nations, the global population is expected to reach 9.8 billion by 2050. As calorie consumption continues to rise, food production must increase by approximately 70 percent to meet global demand.
In light of this urgency, sustainable and biodiverse food systems, along with a reduction in carbon footprints and a shift toward alternative protein sources, become essential strategies rather than optional ideals.
NeoEats presents a collection of sustainable menus using unconventional ingredients such as duckweed, cultured meat, insect protein, upcycled kitchen waste, algae, and kelp. Each dish is designed to spark curiosity and conversation, and to challenge preconceptions—ultimately encouraging a broader cultural acceptance of future foods.
