7. The Complete Series

Publication design

This series features works that were left incomplete at the time of the author’s death, but published years later. Although these are unfinished manuscripts, they exist as completed books—hence the title The Complete Series.

Selected Works:
1. Fernando Pessoa — Livro do Desassossego (1935)
2. Vladimir Nabokov — The Original of Laura (1977)
3. Franz Kafka — Das Schloss (1924)
4. Gustave Flaubert — Bouvard et Pécuchet (1880)

The covers reference the year in which each author died while working on their unfinished manuscript. Each cover is divided into a 4×10 grid, with the four-digit year translated into colour blocks. The year of death also appears on the back cover.

→ Gustave Flaubert’s death year is represented on the cover through the 4×10 grid system.
The interior information pages for each title were newly composed and typeset for consistency across the series.

As a supplementary element, a set of postcards was created for each book. The front features an illustrated portrait of the author, while the reverse presents a photograph of the manuscript or first edition, accompanied by a brief description of the author, the work, and its position within the series.
